H.E. DR. Nabil Elaraby
Dr. Elaraby is the Secretary-General of the Arab League and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Prior to this Dr. Elaraby was Director at the Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration.

He previously held the posts of Commissioner at the United Nations Compensation Commission, Member of the International Court of Justice, Member of the International Law Commission of the United Nations and Judge with the Judicial Tribunal of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Dr. Elaraby has held numerous positions within the United Nations including President of the Security Council and Vice President of the General Assembly.

He has also previously served as Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and Permanent Representative to the UN Office, Geneva. Dr. Elaraby has occupied a number of government positions including Legal Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to India, Head of the Egyptian delegation to the Taba negotiations from 1985 to 1989 and legal advisor to the Egyptian delegation to the Camp David Middle East peace conference.

Dr. Elaraby was previously a member of the governing board of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. He holds a Masters of Laws (L.L.M) and Doctor of Juridical Science (J.S.D) from New York University School of Law and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Cairo University.
