With the presence of high officials and intellectuals from the GCC… The National Security and Regional Security Conference begins its sessions today

Under the patronage of his Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, a conference entitled: “National Security and Regional Security of the Cooperation Council for the Arab State of the Gulf: A Vision from Within”, will open today Tuesday morning, organized by the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies. “This conference seeks to address the problems that threaten the security of the GCC Countries in the light of the current developments, and to provide insights to the challenges facing the GCC countries.” Dr. Muhammad Abdul Ghaffar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Strategic and International Studies said. Prominent speakers at the opening ceremony of the conference held in Manama are King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies Chairman, His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al Faisal, His Majesty King Hamad’s Cultural and Scientific Affairs Advisor, Dr. Mohammed Jaber Al-Ansari, GCC Secretary General HE Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and His Excellency, Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan, Commander in Chief of Dubai Police. The conference will also include a prominent group of GCC officials and intellectuals. The conference will conclude with a discussion session in which participants propose a vision for a strategic security concept for the GCC. The conference sessions to be held over two days will discuss significant topics. The first session considers, “The national and regional security from a geopolitical perspective”, with His Excellency, Mr. Abdullah Yacoub Bishara, President of the Diplomatic Center for Strategic Studies, and Dr. Mohammed AbdulGhaffar, Chairman, Board of Trustees Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies. The second session of the conference will discuss, “Internal and External threats to the security of the GCC Countries”. Participants will include, Dr. Mohamed Ghanem Al Rumaihi, Professor of Political Sociology at Kuwait University, Dr. Abdul Khaleq Abdullah, Professor of Political Science at the UAE University, and Mr. Tariq Al Humaid, Editor-in-Chief of Asharq al-Awsat Newspaper. The third session will address, “Forming a strategic concept for the regional security of the GCC Countries”. The speakers for this session will include Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Othman bin Sagar, President and Founder of the Gulf Research Center, and Major General Dr. Anwar Majed Ashqi, President of the Middle East Center for Strategic and Legal Studies.
