American Jewish Committee visits Derasat

Derasat Chairman Meets a Delegation from the American Jewish Committee

HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies ‘Derasat’, met with a delegation from the American Jewish Committee ‘AJC’, currently visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was held in the Center’s premises in Awali.

In the onset of the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla welcomed members of the visiting delegation, praising the historical and close partnership relations that bring the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States together in the context of close and distinguished friendly relations, based on long decades of shared values and basics.

During the meeting, HE the Chairman gave an overview of the enduring strong ties between both friendly nations, and the productive cooperation in various areas political, economic, military, security, cultural, and research fields; leading to the exchange of benefits, enhancing development and prosperity, and laying the foundations of security and stability in the region.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla pointed to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s participation in regional and international alliances aimed at countering terrorism, ensuring the freedom of shipping routes and maritime security, and facing interferences and practices that contradict the fundamentals of international law.

HE the Chairman addressed the Kingdom’s efforts in countering extremism and terrorism; in its ideological, financial, and practiced phases, asserting that Bahrain is an active partner in fighting all kinds of terrorism, with both countries sharing this posture to confront the danger of terrorist organizations.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla also discussed the most prominent achievements and gains from reform and development the Kingdom of Bahrain reached under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, revealing how the reform approach has been comprehensive, integrated, renewed, and successful in devoting democratic practices and popular participation, under the state of law and institutions, and the separation of authorities.

Derasat’s Chairman pointed out the high and advanced placement the Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved among countries of the world in tolerance and moderation; considered a pioneering civilized humanitarian model to be copied in peaceful coexistence in its broader concept, not limited to religious freedoms but rather set on strong foundations of comprehensive reform, sustainable development, enacted justice, and protected human rights; exhibiting the Kingdom’s efforts and initiatives in this area, such as establishing the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla called for reaching consensual political solutions for the region’s crises, by means that ensure a secure and stable life for its people, while protecting national institutions, welcoming the values of the Middle East Strategic Alliance ‘MESA’, and showing confidence in its positive contribution to bolster the region’s security and prosperity.

The Chairman also described the Kingdom’s hosting of the ‘Peace to Prosperity’ workshop as an initiative for better development, education, and living for the people of the region, especially the Palestinian people, in addition to providing, in addition to providing the suitable environment for peace. His Excellency expressed Derasat’s readiness to enhance intellectual and research engagement with members of the Committee, especially in the area of religious freedoms, and spreading tolerance and moderation.

On their part, members of the American Jewish Society sincerely thanked Dr. Shaikh Abdulla for hosting them and extensively briefing the Committee on relations between the two friendly nations, and current developments in the region; expressing their appreciation for the positive role the Kingdom of Bahrain plays in enhancing the concepts of religious freedoms, peace, and coexistence; wishing the Kingdom lasting progress and prosperity.
