Derasat Chairman Attends Conference on Mideast Shifts

Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) Board of Trustees’ Chairman Khalid Ibrahim Al-Fadhala attended the 20th annual conference which opened today under the patronage of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, UAE Armed Forces Deputy Supreme Commander General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

The Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) is holding the two-day event under the theme ” The Middle East: Shifting Roles, Interests and Alliances”. Leading international experts are taking part in the annual conference, including former Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Saniora.

Al-Fadhala stressed the importance of the issues raised in the plenary sessions, which focus on shifting policies, interests and alliances in the Middle East, bringing forth unprecedented challenges and threats which are destabilizing several Arab countries.

“This annual conference is organised by the UAE think tank amid regional and international shifts”, he said, stressing particularly current developments unfolding in Yemen. He highlighted the Operation Decisive Storm, which was launched to protect the Yemeni people and its legitimate Government.
