Dr. Mirza said the MoU is important because it promotes sustainable energy as essential at all levels. “In economic terms, it conserves natural resources and, on the other hand, is clean energy from available and renewable sources,” he said.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah expressed his happiness in cooperation with the Electricity and Water Affairs Ministry as a leading national institution, to support the work and objectives of the Centre, in the context of the Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

He said the framework looks at the promotion of sustainable energy initiatives and projects, capacity-building and training, and the development and dissemination of awareness and education programmes in the use of conservation and sustainable energy sources, as well as the organisation of exhibitions and conferences, and preparation of training courses.

He said the centre is keen to promote research and studies related to sustainable and clean energy, and at the top of its priorities energy issues, from its various dimensions, insurance, sustainability and efficiency, and seeks permanent ways to produce innovative and sophisticated ideas with regard to renewable energy, energy security and efficiency.

He said Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, attaches great importance to achieving national goals with regard to sustainable development and renewable energy, encouraging investment and partnerships, and raising the efficiency of resources.

We have a legitimate aspiration to be one of the world’s leading centres for renewable and sustainable energy,” he added.
