Derasat Center participates in the University of Bahrain Undergraduate Research and Innovation Conference

Dr. Abdulla Isa Al Abbasi, Director of the Energy and Environment Program at the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), participated as a keynote speaker in the “University of Bahrain Undergraduate Research and Innovation Conference 2026, with the participation of academics, researchers, and students from various scientific disciplines.

In his speech, Dr. Al Abbasi emphasized that scientific research is a fundamental pillar in supporting economic development and advancing the transition toward a knowledge-based economy. He noted that scientific research represents an integrated methodology that can be applied to national projects, the development of innovative ideas, and the formulation of public policies. He further explained that fostering a culture of scientific research contributes to building a national innovation ecosystem capable of providing practical solutions to economic and environmental challenges.

Dr. Al Abbasi also highlighted the importance of collaboration between universities, research centers, and the industrial sector, describing it as a key factor in transforming research outputs into applied projects with direct economic impact. He affirmed that adopting a scientific research approach in national projects and initiatives enhances innovation and supports the achievement of sustainable development.
