Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) since 2017. He served as an Undersecretary for International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the years 2015 to 2021 – and currently holds the position of Undersecretary for Political Affairs since 2021. He was also appointed as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme Defence Council in 2020; and the Chairman of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence in 2023.
Dr. Sh. Abdulla’s official responsibilities include foreign policy, defense, security, and research; backed by his relevant academic qualifications – a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from Jordan’s Applied Science University; a Master of Law (LLM) from Queen Mary College, University of London; and a PhD in International Relations and Diplomacy from L’École des hautes études internationales et politiques in Paris.
