In celebration of Tree Week and in alignment with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), in collaboration with the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), organized a joint environmental awareness event to mark the launch of this year’s Tree Week. The initiative is part of a broader community partnership aimed at expanding green spaces, promoting environmental awareness, and supporting the national action plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Derasat for its fruitful collaboration in organizing the event. He also commended the participation of RHF youth beneficiaries and emphasized the importance of libraries as sources of inspiration and academic enrichment. This initiative reflects a shared commitment to instilling values of sustainability and national belonging, while supporting Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 to build a more conscious, responsible, and sustainable society.
Mr. Abdulla Mohamed AlAhmed, Chief Executive of Derasat, expressed pride in the constructive partnership with RHF in organizing this joint environmental and educational initiative. The event was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, along with several officials, Derasat staff, and RHF youth participants. Activities included planting trees and flowers in Derasat’s garden and hosting educational and awareness sessions in the Derasat Library to foster environmental consciousness among younger generations.
Derasat reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its scientific and research programs that support environmental sustainability and enhance community and knowledge awareness. The center also contributes to the implementation of the national afforestation plan, which aims to plant 3.6 million trees by 2035, supporting sustainable development goals and balancing economic growth with environmental preservation and climate change mitigation.
