Mr. Abdulla Mohammed Alahmed, Executive Director of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies “Derasat” received a high-level UN delegation headed by Dr. Abdullah Al-Dardari, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the center’s headquarters in Awali.
The accompanying delegation included Ms. Asmaa Shalabi, Resident Representative of the UNDP in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ms. Jehan Al Murbati, Senior Program Specialist, the meeting included a roundtable session attended by Sheikha Nayla bint Ali Al Khalifa, Director of Communication and Knowledge, Dr. Omar Al-Ubaydli, Director of the Studies and Research Department, and several center affiliates. During the session, they reviewed cooperation, including ongoing preparations for the “Human Development Report 2026” on “Digital Transformation in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the center on October 27, 2024, with the UNDP for joint cooperation, with contributions from relevant national ministries and agencies.
This meeting comes in the context of the close relations between “Derasat” and the UNDP, and the keenness of both sides to expand areas of cooperation and exchange experiences on issues of mutual interest, contributing to the consolidation of sustainable development and enhancing institutional dialogues at the regional and international levels.
