The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat) organized a seminar to mark the first anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People’s Republic of China. The event was attended by H.E. Mr. Ni Ruchi, China’s Ambassador to Bahrain, held at Derasat’s headquarters in celebration of this milestone in bilateral relations.
The seminar convened distinguished representatives from visiting Chinese think tanks, along with several Bahraini officials and experts from national institutions. It featured four main panel discussions that addressed economic, cultural and educational, technological, and future relations between both countries.
H.E. Dr. Mohammed Ghassan Shaikho, Bahrain’s Ambassador to China, gave an opening speech by video call, in which he highlighted key cooperation areas over the past year and the growing role of Bahrain-China relations.
H.E. Ambassador Ni Ruchi delivered remarks emphasizing the deep historical ties between both nations and the significant growth seen in sectors such as the economy, infrastructure, culture, and education. He also praised the pivotal role that Derasat plays in supporting mutual research collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The first session, titled ‘Relations Between China and Bahrain’, explored aspects of bilateral cooperation and developments in political and economic ties. The second session, titled ‘Frameworks for International Cooperation’, focused on enhancing collaboration within multilateral frameworks and Bahrain’s role in international initiatives. The third session, titled ‘Exploring Modern Technologies”, discussed emerging technological innovations and their potential applications across sectors.
The sessions concluded with a panel titled ‘Enhancing Trade Relations”, featuring representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Nasser Centre for Science and Technology, and Chinese research centers. This session examined opportunities for expanding commercial and investment partnerships between China and Bahrain.
This seminar aligns with Derasat’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with international think tanks; supporting the aspirations of Bahrain’s leadership to establish high-quality global partnerships; and opening new horizons for sustainable development in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.
