Dr. Omar Mohamed AlShaikh currently works at the Royal Academy of Police Bahrain, where he has served as Head of the Curriculum Division at the Officers Training College since 2017, and as a faculty member since 2016. Since August 2024, he has also been assigned to supervise the Academic Studies Section and to lead the Planning, Quality, and Development Team at the Officers Training College. His work focuses on curriculum development, improving the quality of academic programs, supporting scientific research, academic supervision, and leading institutional planning and development initiatives.
Previously, he held several leadership positions, most notably Head of the Education and Training Branch at the Royal Police Academy (2011–2016), secondment to the Operations Directorate at the General Directorate of Public Security at the Ministry of Interior, and secondment as an officer to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in France. He also has extensive experience leading teams and committees, including chairing the E-Learning Team at the Royal Police Academy, as well as teams concerned with equal opportunities, distinguished employee standards, student councils, and community awareness initiatives.
On the academic side, Dr. Omar supervised master’s students’ research at the University of Huddersfield and taught university courses in Project Management, Fundamentals of Criminal Investigation, Management Information Systems, and Security Operations Management. He has several peer-reviewed scientific publications as an author and co-author in the fields of cybersecurity, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and criteria for evaluating cybersecurity solutions, published in international journals and conferences.
