Virtual Think Talk: Redefining Cyber Security

Dr. Mitchell Belfer, President of the Euro-Gulf Information Centre in Italy, discussed the future of cyber technology in the public health field and the relevance of Bahrain’s COVID-19 Approach in a webinar on Thursday 11th June at 11.00am.

The event was moderated by Dr. Fatima AlSebaei, analyst specializing in digital technology and women in IT.

Dr. Mitchell Belfer is currently President of the Euro-Gulf Information Centre (Rome, Italy), Senior Lecturer in International Relations, Terrorism and Security at the Metropolitan University Prague (Czech Republic) and Editor in Chief of the Central European Journal of International and Security Studies. He also sits on the Steering Committee of the Global Institute for Cybersecurity Technologies and the Editorial boards of New Perspectives and the International Journal of Humanitarian Studies among other editorial, research and scientific boards. In addition to numerous works of scholarship and presentations in academic and political forums, Mitchell is also a frequent international media contributor and has appeared on the BBC and CNN, often speaks on Radio France International (among other outlets) and has written for the Wall Street Journal, National Review, the Government Gazette, Parliament Magazine, Formiche, Dirasat, Our World Magazine and an assortment of others. Mitchell’s focus is security in the Arab Gulf and wider Middle East region with an emphasis on: terrorism, counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, radical ideologies, small state foreign policies and geopolitics.

Moderator

Fatima Alsebaie, Ph.D. is an Analyst with the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat). Her research interests fall into two broad categories: Blockchain, Artificial Intelligent and IT Issues in the GCC Region; and Women in the IT Field. Her analyses have appeared in a number of news outlets, with an analysis on women in the IT field published in a peer- reviewed journal. She has contributed to reviewing a research paper for the Information Technology & People Journal and has contributed to writing and editing chapters for a number of books related to women in Bahrain. In addition, she is often invited as a speaker and panellist to seminars on AI, Blockchain and Women & Technology.
