In its mission to spread knowledge and awareness of strategic Arabian Gulf-related issues, the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) published two new books, “Nato and the Arabian Gulf Countries: An Analysis of the Fifteen Year Strategic Partnership”, and “Maritime Security of the Arabian Gulf States – Analysis of Current Threats, Confrontation Mechanisms, and Future Challenges”, written by Dr. Ashraf Mohammed Keshk, Director of the Strategic and International Studies Program at Derasat’s Directorate of Studies and Research.

The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International and Comparative Law Research Center in Moscow, as part of Derasat’s efforts to expand its research partnerships with various think tanks around the world. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of Derasat’s delegation’s participation in the 2022 Ecumene Global Financial Forum, which took place from 28 to 30 September.

The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) organized a seminar under the title of “Future Prospects of the GCC Electrical Interconnection” in cooperation with the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), on Wednesday 29th June 2022. With the participation of a group of experts and engineers of electrical utilities, policy makers in the field of electrical energy in the GCC countries, and energy researchers from Gulf research centers.

The forum measured the aspiring economic and developmental goals and achievements in the MENA countries, especially the Arabian Gulf States, towards their ambitious environmental goals and efforts to curb pollution and climate change while preparing to withstand and benefit from the global shift to a green energy mix that focuses on renewables and alternatives.

Derasat organized a workshop for representatives of government service centers in Bahrain in preparation for the start of the third evaluation cycle which will start in January 2022.

Derasat signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US think tank - Atlantic Council, USA, involving areas of research, knowledge exchange, and organizing events that enhance mutual understanding toward regional and international issues.

In a regional first, the Kingdom of Bahrain will host the 2021 Global Think Tanks Summit, hosted by Derasat, in collaboration with the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program at The Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania, 5-7 December.

Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) board of trustees convened today for its first meeting.

H.E Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Derasat, announced that the Center will host two intellectual summits: the 2021 Middle East and North Africa Think Tank Summit, and the Global Think Tank Summit; in partnership with TTCSP, 6-7 December 2021.

A paper that explores the effect that the Covid-19 pandemic is having on the environment in Bahrain using qualitative data garnered from14 environmental experts from the public and private sectors, as well as academics and staff from non-profit organizations.
