The Importance of Attaining Food Security

Food security is a strategic priority in all countries. The United Nations Committee on World Food Security defines food security as the possibility for all people, at all times, to obtain sufficient, safe and nutritious food, with their physical, social and economic capabilities, in a manner that fulfills their preferences in nutritional needs for an active and healthy life.

Derasat has thus dedicated its Fourth Annual Forum to the subject of food security, to discuss the challenges and opportunities in Bahrain and the region. The Derasat Forum acts as a platform to gather officials and experts in the field of food security to study the options, alternatives, supply chains and opportunities available to meet food security requirements.
