A seminar organized by the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), titled ‘A Dialog between Arabian Gulf Think Tanks and their Partners with NATO’, concluded its proceedings on Thursday 11 May 2023 at the Gulf Hotel, with a notable participation from representatives of GCC and international centers for studies and research, coinciding with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s hosting of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) Policy Advisory Group Meeting.

The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) launched an opinion poll to measure consumers’ awareness of the ingredients in their food products, their label-reading habits, ingredients they are concerned about, and patterns they follow to organize food consumption priorities.
His Excellency Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), praised the standing relations, cooperation and friendly ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Korea, which are constantly developing in various areas, especially in industry, commerce and investment. He emphasized the Kingdom’s continuous approach to increase and advance bilateral cooperation to bring prosperity to both countries and peoples.
The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) published a bilingual study paper titled ‘Britain’s Victoria Memorial Hospital in Bahrain (1905-1948)’, by Derasat’s Executive Director Dr. Hamad Ebrahim Al-Abdulla, in which he examined the hospital’s history managed by the British Political Agency; a successful model of Bahraini-British cooperation in the first half of the twentieth century.
The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) has launched a survey aimed at measuring citizens and residents’ awareness regarding a number of genetic disorders. The survey launched sheds light on the following syndromes: Down, Marfan, and Klinefelter. The survey sample aims to collect data from all segments of society.

He attributed this success to the vision and wise guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, and the relentless efforts of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which led to an exceptional and unique case in responsible and sustainable urban planning, reflecting the vision’s depth and its interaction with various challenges and opportunities.
The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) participated in the Bahraini Sports Day, on Thursday, February 2, 2023, by organizing a series of events that included medical examinations, awareness lectures, a review of health behaviors, in addition to aerobic sports, and a group of different sports competitions with the participation of the center’s employees.
The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) organized a special workshop entitled “Regional Security Perspectives in the Gulf Region”, in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), which discussed the risks of the proliferation of qualitative weapons and weapons of mass destruction, and the protection of the region and its navigation movement from its consequences, at Derasat’s headquarters in Awali on Sunday, January 15, 2023
Where does NATO’s role as a purely defence organization end, and when does the EU’s role as a regional security organization with a different approach to conflict resolution begin?
The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) recently issued an analytical report on the results of a national survey on organ donation in the Kingdom of Bahrain, covering a sample of 1350, with the aim of measuring and evaluating the cultural and societal acceptance about organ donation, the community’s position on this humanitarian effort, and measuring opinions on the establishment of a specialized center for organ transplants and transplantation. The analysts of the statistical data at the center reached several conclusions regarding awareness and familiarity of the Bahraini society with the concept, increased importance of organ donation, and the belief in the need to establish a center for this purpose in order to accelerate the saving of patients’ lives, given supporting documentations of approval of organ donation by donors before they die. Also, some respondents expressed their concern for the health of donors, but half of them supported the principle of organ donation in general.
